Positron Emission Tomography (PET) Scanning as a Means of Diagnosing Psychopathy
PET scanning is a very useful technology for determining if someone is psychopathic and, if so, to what degree of intensity. To conduct a PET scan the patient must first drink a mildly radioactive fluid high in glucose. Once the fluid has been absorbed and circulated through the bloodstream the patient's brain is scanned. The scanner is able to pick up the different levels of brain activity shown through the various concentrations of glucose, which is collected where the brain is most active. The data can then be viewed digitally and be printed by the examiners. This type of scan is also used to diagnose ailments such as Alzheimer's and cancer.
